About Freelance Finance Calculator
Freelance Finance Calculator is a set of free, no-signup calculators and plain-English guides for freelancers, contractors, side hustlers, landlords, and anyone else whose income doesn't come with an employer handling the math. Every tool runs entirely in your browser — we never see the numbers you enter.
Why this site exists
The site is an independent, one-person project — not a bank, a tax-prep company, or a lead-generation funnel. It started in 2026 out of a simple frustration: most “free” freelance calculators exist to capture your email or steer you into a paid product, and many quietly skip the parts that actually move the number — self-employment tax, the QBI deduction, vacancy on a rental, the unpaid hours behind a side hustle. These tools aim to answer the question honestly, show their work, and ask for nothing in return.
Where the numbers come from
The tax figures behind the calculators — federal brackets, the standard deduction, self-employment tax, QBI thresholds, quarterly due dates, mileage rates — come from published IRS figures. State and local estimates are built from rates published by state revenue departments and are deliberately simplified. Each calculator states the tax year it models, and each guide carries a “Last reviewed” date so you can see how current it is.
Figures are reviewed on an annual cycle when the IRS publishes its inflation adjustments, and updated mid-year when the law changes. If you spot a number that looks stale or wrong, tell us — corrections genuinely get made.
How the site is funded
Advertising, and that's it. The site shows a small number of ads (served by Google AdSense) to keep the tools free. There are no affiliate links, no sponsored recommendations, no premium tier, and no selling of data — there's no data to sell, because your inputs never leave your device.
What this site is not
It's not tax, legal, or financial advice, and it's no substitute for a professional who knows your situation. The calculators produce good-faith estimates to orient you — before you make decisions, verify the numbers with a qualified professional. See the terms of service for the full picture.
